L’ultimo sole
Conservalo un po’
di questo sole
per riscaldare i
nostri giorni grigi,
l’inverno, lo
sai, è lungo e triste
laggiù tra quelle
argille nebbiose.
Questo intenso
colore di topazio
che ti incastona
gli occhi di smeraldo
serbiamolo per
noi, per quando diafani
saranno i nostri
volti e intirizziti.
Ora che dilegua
il sogno dell’estate
e la vita
riprende il suo cammino
la splendida
armonia di questo mare
nel cuore
riecheggi come una canzone.
The last Sun
Preserve a little bit this
sun
to warm up our gray days,
winter, you know, is long
and sad
here among such nebulous
clays.
This intense color of
topaz
inlaying your emerald eyes
let’s keep it for us, when
our faces
will be transparent and
wrinkled.
Now that summer’s dream
holds
back and life restarts its
walk
let the glorious harmony
of this sea
reverberate like a song.

Madre
Come un fiore
antico
ai raggi del sole
diradano
i petali
sul tuo viso
di cera.
Ma per fortuna
ci sei ancora.
Nessuno
rinuncia
a giudicarmi.
Tu sola
mi perdoni
senza chiedermi
di che.
Mother
Like an ancient flower
under the rays of the sun
the petals
on your waxy
face
fade away.
Luckily
you are still here.
No one
refuses
to judge me.
Only you
forgive me
without asking
of what.

Conversa
Un giorno
bussai alla tua
porta.
Tu eri distratta.
Vivevi con
Diogene
nella botte della
saggezza.
Mi fuggisti
per strade
sconosciute…
Nel nuovo rifugio
ti dissero che è
male
bagnarsi di
desiderio
nel solitario
ingorgo
di allucinazioni
proibite.
Così fosti
vestale
nel nuovo rito
per reggere la
lucerna
delle vergini.
Non conoscesti
la gioia che fa
ricca la terra
e feconda la
vita.
Ti ritrovai
e non osai
mostrarmi,
ma un Dio
dalle braccia
inchiodate
era pronto a
perdonare
a misura d’amore
Converted
One day
I knocked at your door.
You were distracted
living with Diogenes
in the barrel of wisdom.
But you ran away
along roads unknown…
In the new refuge
They told you it was bad
to bathe in the desire
of forbidden
hallucinations.
So you became vestal
in the new rite
upholding the lantern
of the virgins.
You didn’t know
the joy that enriches
earth
and impregnates life.
I found you again
and feared to show myself,
but a God
with arms nailed through
was ready to forgive
as a measure of love.

Sete
É nell’aria
sapore
di rosmarino.
Un vecchio somaro
lungo il sentiero
ansima
sotto il peso
della legna
da ardere.
Ciottoli opachi
levigati dalle piene
dell’altr’anno
sul letto del torrente
incanalano rivoli
lenti
d’acqua svogliata
sul fondo
limaccioso del canale
allo zero
idrometrico.
La gente avrà
sete.
Poi a luglio i
sequestri
per le poche lire
prese ad usura.
La ricorrente
miseria
stringerà la sua
morsa
sul destino dei
poveri,
inconsapevoli
comparse
di una storia
immobile.
Il violino sibila
a dispetto
gli ultimi
aneliti
della lunga
elegia
della memoria.
Vibrano in
sequenza
note
sibilanti e roche
come pianto
di passeri
affamati.
Thirst
The smell of rosemary
Is in the air.
an ageless donkey
along the road
struggles
under the weight of
the firewood.
Opaque stones worn by the
storms
of last year along the
river bed
channel slow streams
of careless water
on the bottom of the canal
at zero level.
People must be thirsty.
Then in July the
confiscations
for a few pennies paid for
usury.
Recurrent poverty
will put the noose around
a poor people’s fate,
the unwitting repeating
of an implacable story.
The violin screams to
spite
the last gasp
of the mind’s
endless elegy.
Notes
vibrate in sequence
hissing and harsh
as the crying
of hungry
sparrows.

Ecoterroristi
Negli anni di
piombo i terroristi
Erano di due
colori, o rosso o nero,
ora anche dai
gruppi pacifisti
si fa avanti il
verde guerrigliero.
Ti abbatte il
traliccio sul confine
Per far dispetto
al popolo francese,
chi la prende
alle spalle alla fin fine
è il nostro amato
candido paese,
che essendosi
denuclearizzato
per volontà del
popolo votante,
rischia di
trovarsi disastrato
dalle centrali
del suo confinante,
da cui peraltro
ha già acquistato
energia elettrica
in contante.
Così gli arriva
in unica fattura
energia, veleno e
fregatura.
Ecoterrorists
In the years of lead the
terrorists
wore two colors, red or
black,
now even among pacifist
groups
has sprung up the warring
green. He
knocks down the light pole
at the border
just to irritate the
French people,
but in the end who takes
in the ass
is our own beloved
spotless country
who, having done without
nuclear power
at the will of the voting
people,
has already purchased
enough
electricity and paid it
with cold cash.
So now we get an original
bill
for energy, poison and a
big swindle.

Donna Marietta
Quand’ero
bambino, mi ricordo,
chiedevo il
perché di ogni cosa
e mi trovavo
spesso in disaccordo
con quella brutta
strega sinforosa
che al prezzo di
sole venti lire
mi teneva
accucciato dietro un tavolo
per insegnarmi,
facendomi allibire,
che io ero nato
sotto un cavolo.
E continuò con
queste cavolate
finché un bel
giorno io me ne scappai.
Mi presi la mia
dose di legnate
ma poi finalmente
la spuntai;
finita così la
summa passio
decisero di
iscrivermi al ginnasio.
Lady Marietta
When I was a child, I
recall,
I asked the whys of every
thing
and often found out I
disagreed
with that ugly
pimply-nosed witch
who for only twenty cents
kept me crouched under the
desk
to teach me, making me
mad,
that I was born beneath a
cabbage.
And she kept up with such
garbage
until one day I just ran
away.
I got my good dose of
whipping
but in the end I survived;
thus finished my own
crucifixion
they chose to send me to
high school.
